conditions of filling up.

The requirements as to the size of the vent pipe, which should go direct to atmosphere, in relation to the communications between the bell system and the tank, were specially laid down by the Chief Engineer of the King-Seeley Corporation, on the writer's last visit.

We should be much obliged if you would leave this matter over until the writer is able to visit your Mr.Robotham at Derby shortly, when he will show him the original sketches and purport of the discussion in connection with this vent pipe position, and we fear that it would be impossible for us to supply gauges and take the responsibility for them when fitted to cars in service, if you insist on the deletion of this portion of the design.

We admit that by rights the pipe should go direct to atmosphere, but we are relying on the area of the annulus and the holes in the fitting inside your filler, maintaining substantially atmospheric pressure until such time as they are actually sealed by the petrol.

Assuring you at all times of our best attention,
We remain,dear Sirs,
Yours faithfully,

H.M.HOBSON,Ltd.,
T.P.Searight
Joint Managing Director.
