Dear Sirs,

Re Mounting of Enclosed Limousine 31EX.

We are giving below our experiences when mounting the body on 31EX, to enable you to take precautions to prevent the troubles occurring on the body for 32EX.

1. Scuttle Shape.

The width of the scuttle at the back of the bonnet was approximately .125 ins. too great each side.

When the bonnet side mouldings were lined up with those on the body, the top of the scuttle was .187 ins. below the top of the bonnet panel. In order to make the job look right we had to re-fit the bonnet rest angle .187 ins. at the top. We suggest you check up your jig on these points. The raising of the radiator 1.350 ins. and the dash only 1.000 ins. will have caused the back of the bonnet to drop relative to the dash .045 ins.

2. As already reported to you the two body supports on the rear wheel arch each side were toed in to such an extent that the frame would not pass between them. They had to be cut and welded.
We note that you suggest that the distortion occurred either during welding or in transit, as the jig is correct. You will, no doubt take steps to prevent this happening on subsequent bodies.
