Re Minutes of the 84th Meeting concerning gas-tight floorboards to be fitted at Derby, and over the whole length of the chassis.

--------

The Committee were of the opinion that it is not a feasible thing to fit gas-tight floorboards to the whole length of the chassis, at the Works. This job must necessarily be done by coachbuilders as it is part of the bodywork. The only move we can make in this direction is to emphasise the importance of all the floorboards being gas-tight, on a special drawing. This is now in hand.

I would point out that the scheme suggested by Mr Spinney, and which has been tested with success, - that is, the isolation of the front board space from the hot gases from the bonnet should overcome this difficulty almost entirely
