| Engine Slipper Drive varying in load, causing engine gear rattles and knocks. | W. - | W. 9. | | In spite of carrying out the latest improvements, i.e. cotton duck friction washers and new spring poundage, we are still getting slipper drives which increase in loading and become uneven in action with running. Our chief trouble at present is caused by rattling in the gears. To overcome this all slack is taken out of dynamo drive serrations and bearings. See that the springs give the correct damping to the pressure plate. There must be a minimum amount of slack in the timing gears and engine bearings, especially the front bearings. We shall be glad of any help anyone can give us in connection with this complaint, as we have some very unsatisfactory and difficult cases to deal with. |
