Dear Sirs, We have pleasure in advising receipt of the two 4.00x17 wire wheels code X330J, black enamel finish, referred to in your letter of the 31st August addressed for the attention of Mr.Sharp. Upon inspection we find that the back bead of the rim on one wheel is damaged and dented, and there is a long flat on same, tyre seat pulled down rendering the rim beyond economical repair; Two spoke heads are broken off in the back row, and the spokes bent, due, in our submission, to having been caused with a mallet. The second wheel has score marks on the side of the rim suggesting that it may have been in contact with some obstructions, such as a kerb; again, several front spokes are damaged, we suggest the cause being similar to the previous wheel. Both shells, however, run true; in the case of the first wheel we should be pleased to rebuild with new rim, new spokes and nipples and re-enamel at a charge of £2.1.3. The second wheel can be successfully reconditioned by overhauling, fitting new spokes as necessary, and re-enamelling, our charge in this case amounting to 15/-net.
