cam tracks on the inner race and only one roller per track. This avoids the difficulty of having to grade the three sizes of rollers to fit in between the cam and the circular race, and they said that they would adopt this type if they were designing a new freewheel unit.

In our case we have plenty of diameter and this would probably be the best type for us to use.

It is rather interesting to note that in the case of the Warner overdrive the freewheel is freewheeling all the time the overdrive is in operation, so that the condition is not much worse from that point of view, than our two-speed gear.

They promised to send the Warner overspeed drive for us to inspect, in about a week's time. It is an epicyclic gear using helical teeth.

Other types of freewheel were also discussed. They tried the Milam type but found that the drag when freewheeling was much too great. They recommended us to get in touch with the Spontan Gearbox people as they have done a lot of work on freewheels.

We recommend that we design and make a freewheel of the latest Warner type for test in the two-speed supercharger drive.
