Lord Cholmondeley, GPT-43.

In reply to your Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}2/GH2.10.31.

Lord Cholmondeley is almost daily writing urging us to deliver this chassis to the coachbuilders as soon as possible.

His Secretary further states she has heard from him from Germany that he wishes to have the complete car by November 10th. I have no idea at the moment how far this is possible - all I know is that the chassis was to be ready ex Derby about this date, subject now to a further delay if a rev.counter is fitted to the front end of the engine. Although this owner has asked for a Jaeger rev. instrument to be fitted, he will doubtless be content with our opinion if we find it necessary to fit a reliable instrument of another make instead, if by doing so we can save time. You refer to a right-angle drive being necessary in the case of the Jaeger instrument. Do you know whether a fitting has been standardised by them and is available for this purpose ? If not it would appear that you should fit at once one of the other two rev. counters which you consider O.K., that is either the A.T. and a Waltham instrument, keeping in view the fact that he wants a large dial situated over the top of the instrument board in line with the steering column. How much delay will this cause ?

In view of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/Mj3.10.31. and especially the first paragraph of it, Mr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} agrees that the proposed test before the body is fitted may be washed out. Therefore, immediately your work on this chassis is finished it should be sent through to the Works of Messrs. Andre Ltd, at Victoria Gardens Ladbroke Road W. 11. where they will carry out the work of fitting Hartford Shock-absorbers, which they estimate will take two days. The chassis will then go straight to the coachbuilders, and everyone concerned will be urged to save time where possible.

I should be glad, immediately on receipt of this, if you could let me know when to expect to send the chassis to Messrs. Andre in order that I may convey this fact to Lord Cholmondeley.
