Dear Robotham,

I do not appear to have seen the brochure of the Perfect Circle Piston Ring Co., to which you refer, but I am wondering if it is similar to a recent extract from the American press which I saw, which referred to some form of surface treatment on the periphery to prevent scuffing.

I have written over for more information and will write you again on the subject.

The interesting thing to me is that the development of such a process would suggest ring scuffing to be a problem with which they have to contend, whereas it does not appear to exist to any serious extent in this country. Maybe the tendency is one of the disadvantages associated with the use of extra high radial pressure.

Yours sincerely,

C.H.B. Brooks
