X6096 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. EFC. E2/M10.8.25 X.8691. X.8690. EAC. BATTERY IGNITION. We send you herewith drawing LeC.2121 shewing some slight modifications for excluding crankchamber gases and improving the ventilation on the battery ignition tower. We had this drawing in hand at the time of receiving your D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} scheme 255. As you will notice Mr. Royce expresses disapproval of joining all the units of the ignition gear together with sweated connections. LeC.2121 shews 2 methods of excluding the crankchamber gases and these should be considered as alternative to each other, and tested as such. Two windows covered with gauze are now called for in the H.T. distributor moulding, and also a ventilation hole in the floor of the distributor housing in close proximity to the L.T. contact points.
