c. to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA. X1589. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.7/MA. May 4th., 1933. The Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co.Ltd., 82 York Road, Kings Cross, London, N.1. Re. Westric Charger. Dear Sirs, In reply to your communication of the 28th., ult. ref. 18995/R.{Sir Henry Royce} regarding the above we would say that we fully appreciate your object in introducing your charger. We could not however undertake to fit the Socket as part of our electrical equipment for the reason that:- (a) With our new system of dynamo charge the battery will automatically be kept in a much better condition. (b) The percentage of our customers who use their starter to the extent that they cannot replace the charge easily is small. We should not object to any of our customers using your charger on their own responsibility, in fact we consider it to be so eminently satisfactory as a trickle charger that we should be prepared to recommend it preferentially to any of our customers seeking our advice. We regret that we cannot go beyond this and we beg to thank you for your trouble in the matter. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
