Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, We acknowledge, with thanks your communication of the 26th inst., relative to the supply of 2 magnetos similar to the type AM-6-A, No.34937, anticlockwise rotation when looking on the driving spindle end. We have noted that the ranges of the magneto mentioned above are not quite as large as you require, and we think it will be possible to increase this amount by approximately 30, but to obtain the total firing range of 60 which you require, it would be necessary for us to put forward our type AG6-A magneto, on which we can give a total range of 60o. In view of your requiring the automatic advance to commence at 450 r.p.m., we think it is probable that the maximum amount of advance will be reached at a speed below 3300 r.p.m., and if this figure could be reduced to say 3000 r.p.m. we think it will enable us to increase slightly the amount of advance obtained at the intermediate speed, and we shall be glad to hear from you on this point at your early convenience. In the meantime, we quote you below for two magnetos, as follows :- TWO SCINTILLA MAGNETOS type AM6-A, left-hand rotation when looking on the driving spindle end, suitable for an engine having a bore up to about 90 mm., with automatic advance commencing at 450 r.p.m. as much as possible of up to two-thirds of the advance to take place at the intermediate speed, the maximum advance to be reached at 3000/3300 r.p.m. Price, @ £14. 6. 8..each. . . . . . . . £28.13.4 net.
