(PHANTOM 2 ENGINE IN J.3 CHASSIS) GENERAL ARRANGEMENT DRAWING NO. LeC.3580. Engine - Phantom 2 with modified bottom half crankcase to clear cross steering tube. Double battery ignition. No magneto or servo ignition control Salt cooled exhaust valves. Fan - As J.3. Radiator - Similar to J.3. only taller Centre mounting as J.3. Exhaust system - To be similar in design to Bentley. 3.000 dia. pipe to be used. Rubber suspension. & Suspension. Cut-Out. - Similar to Bentley. Frame. - J.3. Side Channels. 1st Crossmember - As J.3. 2nd Crossmember - As J.3. Battery Crossmember - The positionof this not yet settled. 3rd Crossmember. Similar to J.3, requires moving back. 4th Crossmember and Equalisers. Similar to Bentley, underneath propeller shaft. Gearbox Crossmember. As J.3. only stiffened up. 5th Crossmember. As J.3. modified to suit Phantom 2 engine bracket and the transmission position. Front Crossmember. Special concealed type, under front apron, centre forging required for starting handle. Design not yet fixed. | ||
