Commander Matravers,
The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd.,
Dallow Road,
Luton.

Dear Comdr. Matravers,

We have now made up two of the double tooth steerings from the parts which you supplied to us. It is very evident from these two steerings that we are not getting such satisfactory results as the American steerings which we are trying to copy.

We find that hard spots are evident on the worm, and have come to the conclusion that we shall have to grind this. We should, however, very much appreciate your opinion on the results obtained, and wonder whether you could come to Derby on Wednesday or Thursday of next week with a view to seeing the results obtained, and also comparing them with those of the Cadillac, a steering of which we have available.

I have heard indirectly that you have run into a certain amount of trouble with the pieces for the Bentley steering, but we are still awaiting the arrival of this with interest.

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
