RE. RR BEATONSON ALL-WEATHER.
5-GOSHAWK-11.

X.3730.

I took this car to Messrs. Beaton and Son, and then on to Messrs. Young & Co. of Bromley, who built the body.

After its trials on the French roads the body had few rattles compared with similar coachbuilt cabriolets after such a test.

The body joints themselves did not appear to have moved, and all the slight rattles that were located appeared in the head itself.

Mr. Beaton is making a few modifications to the head fittings, incorporating his most recent designs which will deal with this. The car will then go to Youngs to have the minor scratches on the varnish polished out.

(1) There seemed to be not quite sufficient clearance between the scuttle and the dash. They had knocked together on some occasions, and cracked the paint.

(2) The front footboards attached to the chassis appeared to fit the body too closely, and knocked.

(3) Several head leather clips were damaged.

(4) The squabbing of the front seats gave insufficient support to the small of the back.

The heat in the scuttle seems still to be rather great, in spite of the gas-tight pedal plate, and cork covered floor. The writers feet are now tender and blistered. Most of the heat appears to come through the aluminium dashboard which is a good conductor.

When the coachbuilders have completed the few details which they are attending to, the car will be delivered to Conduit Street.
