To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} X/3730 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M8.5.24. RE. 20 HP. LANDAULET ON SPECIAL BODY FRAME AT BARKERS. X.3730. X.4260. The body is now mounted on this chassis and we are experiencing excessive movement between the scuttle and the dashboard, due to deflection of the main chassis frame. We knew this does deflect under standard conditions, and we now get deflections in excess due to the weight of the body being applied as a concentrated load, and also to the fact that the chassis frame is in no way stiffened by the body. Mr. Royce thinks we should fit tie-bars similar to those fitted on his car - 5.G.11. - Would it be possible for you to fit these at Barkers or shall we have to send you the chassis? The latter would cause considerable delay as the body is only in the rough, unsquabbed, and unglazed. Could you let us have your views?
