PHO/ED.{J. L. Edwards} O.{Mr Oldham} HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}/NS.{Norman Scott} C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 617 Swell Do you agree R.m WRAITH III - CRANKSHAFT FRONT JOURNAL OIL CAP STUD. Replying to your request for the deletion of the collar from the front journal oil cap stud, may we point out that these collars were introduced by LeC.3515 in 1933 owing to a number of breakages of the studs, due to whipping at high engine speeds, on the 20/25 HP., Bentley and Phantom II. engines. As these collars cured the trouble of broken studs, there seems no point in deleting them again. EA. | ||
