WRAITH 111 - CRANKSHAFT REAR END OIL RETAINER.

617

Please receive herewith E.CD.238 Crankshaft Rear End Oil Retainer, Wraith 111.

This design follows the practice adopted for the six Wraith 111 cars, of adding an oil catch groove at the rear end of the journal bearing, the bearing flange has been made thicker and the groove and drain holes positioned so that the effective length of journal bearing is only reduced by .0125".

The diameter at the rear mouth of the bearing should be grooved to give the necessary lubrication to the rear thrust face without being excessive, and the oil passing the thrust face will be dealt with by a worm thread pump.

The new rear end cover can be produced from an existing casting.

Will you please detail and instruct the necessary details for the experiment.
