X.5430 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ & Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M23.6.26. INDIA STEERING COLUMN SUPPORT. With reference to BY/CGH{W Clough}2/H17.6.26., we are looking into the question of additional support on the stiffer column, and shall send you a drawing in the course of a day or so. In the meanwhile we have investigated the support for the original column with the information regarding the line of the control shafts supplied on your drawing, and have come to the conclusion that some modification is needed to the original scheme. We have accordingly made, and sent you today N. sch. 2217 shewing how we suggest the first scheme should be re-arranged We have found it necessary to come away from the klaxon bracket as it does not seem possible to go there without either a very objectionable bend in the tube, or the support being very low down on the column. The fitting on the column is as originally designed except for the angle of the taper stud. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
