Replying to Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 1/NJ1.1.23, and copy of a letter from the Chloride Electrical Co., dated 27th ult. Upon referring to our past correspondence on the above chassis, we find that there was a battery complaint in February of last year. Messrs. Barker & Co., in their letter reference CWW/DD20.2.22, advised us they were returning the battery originally supplied with the above chassis for examination and report, and requested a replacement battery. The Shipping Office issued Y/S 40447 dated 21.2.22 instructing us to supply a battery as a replacement. We handed to Mr. Chatwin, debit slip No. 68888 together with his copy of the above Y/S, instructing him to send a new battery to Messrs. Barker & Co., direct from the stores stock; the battery to be in an uncharged condition. It therefore appears that the battery complained of by the Clyde Auto Co., is the one supplied by the stores in accordance with the above instructions. Presumably the stores will be able to trace this matter and explain why a battery of such an early design was supplied as a replacement at so late a date as February 1922. EP. {G.
