EVI/I7.6.33. Messrs Vickers (Aviation) Ltd., Weybridge, Surrey. Dear Sirs, RE WIND TUNNEL TEST ON MODEL CARS. This is to confirm the verbal arrangements which we made with you during our visit of the earlier part of this week. We anticipate that the morning of Monday June 19th. will be taken for setting up the models in the wind tunnel. On Monday afternoon it was considered possible that six tests would be completed, and on the Tuesday a further twelve, making eighteen in all. Should this not occupy the whole of the two days as anticipated we wish to make such tests as we may subsequently define to complete the time. The model which is to be tested by the "Reflection Method" is model No.I. as depicted on N.Sch.3738. a print of which we enclose herewith. We also enclose a list of the tests we propose. These have been so arranged as to minimise the amount of parts to be changed on the model after each test. We have indicated by a red dot the modified part or parts in each test. The second model which you will have received will be used for subsequent tests, and is now sent to you so that it can be used upside-down in the tests as required by the "Reflection Method". We suggest that all the tests be carried out at the same air speed, and that this should be the maximum that you are able to provide. We would like to have two photographic record made with smoke or powder in the air stream. The first should be with the model in the condition of test 4. which represents the experimental saloon which we have on the road, and the second will be picked out by us as being the best of all the combinations tested. The writer will be at you works before midday on Monday as suggested by yourselves to render any assistance to you that you may wish. Yours faithfully, [Signature] for Rolls-Royce Ltd., | ||
