-2- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/WJ.22.8.32. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Propeller Shaft. It is possible that we may need some radical alteration here before this car can be considered satisfactory. No.1 car although special attention was given and the propeller shaft changed, was hopeless in this respect. Change Speed Gear. It will be remembered that it was quite impossible to change gear on this car owing to the jamming of the lever unless it was operated very near the bottom. Rear Axle Gears. As we have chosen the lowest axle ratio as the most suitable ratio so far, and as it is known that these are over stressed we should be asking for trouble to go on producing more of these gears. Clutch. We had to fit stronger springs on the first car before it was satisfactory on the road. When we do this our clutch pedal pressure is unnecessarily high. Gear-Box. The arrangement of the gearbox is the same as the present 25 HP. with the impossible first speed. Now that we have proved out a modification on the 25 HP. one would assume that Peregrine would start with this scheme. Front Axle Control. The first car is running about without a front axle control. We think it would be a pity to make another car like this. Shock Dampers. The ones fitted to this car are the ones with the special valve which we know are likely to cause trouble in service. Steering Column Controls. These have obvious faults which will have to be remedied. Radiator Shutters. These have been condemned for appearance. Starter Motor. The one fitted to the first car would not turn the engine. Brakes. The first car is quite impossible for brake thumps and jaggers. We temporarily fixed a damper. Carburetter and Induction Pipe. It is most important we get the R.R. carburetter quickly because this part can effect the whole car so much. Modifications to overcome these faults are in hand and in most cases they are certain to overcome the troubles. | ||
