1262. Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}2/MH.{M. Huckerby} 12th. March, 1940. Messrs. Hardy Spicer & Co. Ltd., Birch Road, Witton, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of J.A.Daniell, Esq. Dear Sirs, We notice that a number of American cars are now equipped with propellor shafts having the sliding joint working on a splined extension of the gearbox third motion shaft and no sliding joint between the two universals. We are interested in the above arrangement as it obviously is simpler than present standard practice. We were wondering whether you were familiar with the arrangement of the new American shafts, and if so we would like to come over to discuss it with you. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
