FAILURE OF S.U. PETROL PUMPS FITTED TO GIN.60.

With reference to the above, we understand from Mr.Lappin that when the ignition and pump switch is switched on that the pumps give one stroke and then show a discharge of 10 amps.

This can be due to one or two things as follows, providing the windings of the pumps are not at fault.

(1) Petrol tap being turned to off position, so that when switched on a vacuum is caused in the pump so keeping the points in contact.

(2) Earthing through the fuses in some way or another.

(3) A choke in the suction side of the petrol line.
The fuses are under the main feed terminal.

Owing to the fact that the makers of these pumps are behind with delivery, we are unable to send you the same type of pump as now fitted. However, we are despatching herewith one pump of old type, to carry you over whilst we hasten the makers for replacement.

The instructions for fitting the enclosed pumps are as follows.

(a) As the base of this pump is a two 1/4" bolt fitting, it will be necessary to re-drill the plate fitted between the carbs.

(b) This pump has no fuse incorporated, therefore it will be necessary to remove the bakelite terminal, and spring, from the existing wires, and fit the enclosed Ross Courtney terminals.

The pipe lines are the same as on the pump you have at present.

Will you please let us have the faulty pump as soon as possible for examination, meanwhile we will endeavour to obtain another pump.
