A.{Mr Adams} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WCR. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL E1/M9.9.31. x 5010. 20/25 MODIFIED CRANKSHAFT USING EXISTING FORGINGS. We send you herewith LeC. 2943. shewing the above. You will notice we are asking for 2.25 dia. journals assuming that this is possible with the existing crankcase material, and 2" dia. pins, which latter will require new con. rods. We have made the finished width of the web 3.450 instead of 3.250 and the allowance for machining runs very fine round the journal end of the web, but we hope there may be a little to spare above forging drawing sizes to accommodate this.
