ORIGINAL. SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PH. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} re. P. 2. DIAMOND MOUNTING. 17005. Referring to your memo. SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/E8931., we should like to point out that when converting to diamond mounting the intention is to bolt on to the engine some simple box form aluminium feet which will ride just clear of rubber buffers within the frame as shewn on LeC. 2923., at the rear end of the crankcase. These feet will take up load when any excessive torsional strain is thrown on the chassis, such as occurs when manoeuvring over extremely uneven ground, and they are also expected to hold up the engine when the gearbox is detached.
