- 2 - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Physical Tests. The tests required will be taken in a transverse direction and will give the following physical properties :- Yield Stress 45/50 tons per sq. ins. Ult: " 60/65 " " " Elongation Not less than 12% Izod Impact " " 14 foot lbs. It was decided that the design of the barrel, if altered to utilise the Bofors material, would make the gun too clumsy and too much redesign would be required. Therefore the barrel would not be altered. It was left to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to ensure that the necessary barrel forgings would be forthcoming. 3. APPROVAL OF GUN BY AERODROME DEFENCE STAFF. It was agreed that if possible we should get the people who are going to use the gun to come and have a look at it. Apparently, Lord Beaverbrook has expressed a desire to get as many of these guns as possible for aerodrome defence; on the other hand, Admiral Evans of the Broke is in charge of this Defence Section. It was therefore decided that Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} would endeavour to get somebody down from Admiral Evans' staff to co-operate. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
