x4094 Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/PJH.17/KW. 11th February, 1935. Commdr. Matravers, The Adamant Engineering Co,Ltd., Dallow Road, Luton. Dear Sir, We thank you for your letter of the 8th inst., and have noted that the cam bores may be oversize. On the questions that remained to be settled in connection with the 1-7/16 type double tooth gear for the Bentley, we have come to the following decisions :- (1) We wish this gear to have the roller bearing follower as on the drawing which we return herewith. (2) Fixing of control tubes on end cover (Part No. M.20722). We think it will be best if you supply us with a plain cover 0.200" thick, so that we can fix our control tubes by 2-B-A studs in our usual manner. (3) Dia. of control tubes. The outside dia. of our standard outer control tube is 0.670 and as this is too large to be accommodated by using a thinner steering tube we shall, for experimental purposes, leave out one of the tubes. In this case it will be unnecessary to use a thinner steering tube. (4) We shall attach the box to the frame by a split clamping bracket as we have done on the L.7 gear, and so will want the box to have a plain nose, 1.875 dia., as shown on your drawing. | ||
