EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /RC. {R. Childs} 18/JH. 10th June, 1938. Messrs. Peto & Radford Ltd., Dagenham Dock, ESSEX. 6021 For the attention of Mr. Chapman. Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of June 3rd., we regret the delay in arriving at a decision over the experimental 6.HZD.11-G type batteries, but a number of factors have arisen which combined have made progress slow. Firstly as a result of our late cold weather experiences we have had to revise our views on battery tests, and modify our schedule of tests accordingly. Secondly, in order to be able to express an opinion on the experimental battery, any tests carried out on it must be repeated on our standard 6.HZD.11.S. type battery in order to obtain a basis of comparison. We have now however arrived at a short series of tests, which we think will tell us all that we immediately want to know and on which we propose comparing all future batteries. These tests are as follows :- (1) Weight of battery in fully charged condition but without lid {A. J. Lidsey} and bolts. (2) Dimensions of battery without lid. {A. J. Lidsey} (3) Starting ability. (a) At low temperatures 8°F. {Mr Friese} (b) At normal temperatures 68°F. {Mr Friese} | ||
