X.2575 CK{Mr Clark}/T26.1.20. INVESTIGATION OF PROTECTION OF LUCAS E.575 DYNAMO BY MEANS OF FUSES IN THE FIELD, CONTROL AND NEGATIVE WIRES. X.2575 X.3014 There are two cases to consider - A.{Mr Adams} Protection of the dynamo when the battery is removed or disconnected from any cause and the dynamo is run. Under these conditions the maximum control current obtainable is no greater than the maximum control current at high speeds under normal working conditions. Therefore, in this case, a fuse in the control circuit is of no use. The three sub-cases to consider are (a) Fuse of 5 amperes capacity in field circuit. (b) Fuse of 15 amperes capacity in negative circuit. (c) Both of these fuses in at the same time. Investigation of the operation of these fuses separately and together should be carried out for both 1. Battery connected 2. Battery disconnected and for both conditions of the dynamo L. Dynamo cold. B. Dynamo hot. B. Protection of the dynamo, should at any time the cutout stick "on" with the dynamo stopped, and the charging switch be left on. It will readily be seen that a field fuse in this instance is of no use. We have therefore the sub-divisions :- (upside down text) R.R. 235 A.{Mr Adams} (100 T) (S.F.) 846. 6.S.19) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2480. | ||
