W/N. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. W/K.{Mr Kilner} 1110 ? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R.7.10.37. 20/25 & Old Type Bentley Clutches. We have recently been carrying out some experi-ments with a view to overcoming the present difficulty on 20/25 clutches of the old type which have to be repeatedly re-lined in several cases. We have now got a solution in which a lead bronze facing is used instead of Ferodo, and from our prelim-inary tests it would appear that this will increase the life of a clutch 4 or 5 times. We hope to get the Administration's permission to fit this to customers cars forthwith, but, in the meantime, if you are contemplating re-lining any clutches in the immed-iate future, and can postpone any such work for a few days, we believe that we can enable you to make a permanent job. We have about 30 sets of material in hand, so that there should be no delay in letting you have pieces to carry on with. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
