To BJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to GJ. c. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to PN.{Mr Northey}✓ c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} RECEIVED GOSHAWK. X4219 X4261 It has been noticed by Mr. Elliott that the photographs being published are from cars which are imperfectly sprung, being too high at the front end. This may be caused through using dummy chassis. The utmost care should be taken with the early complete cars for delivery that the springing is correct. No.4.Goshawk has springs which are inclined to be too flexible, but this would be much preferred to springs which are too stiff, as is the case with No.6.Goshawk which I am at present using. I think it would be a good thing if EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} was personally responsible for every complete Goshawk that passed out of the hands of the coachbuilders for the next six months. He ought to personally pass the springing and running of these complete cars with minimum, average, and maximum loads. I am sure the possibilities are quite good but it is quite easy to make a bad reputation at this moment because we are departing from cantilever rear springs, or to create an im-pression of poor suspension which would be hard to remove.
