FILES. ----- X7520 8.11.33. rv698 20-EX. SHOCK DAMPER TEMPERATURE TESTS. A series of tests were carried out on the above car. (1) Running the car in a perfectly standard condition, (2) By placing a shield over the N.S.R. shock damper - the idea being to shield the damper from the hot exhaust pipe, and at the same time to produce an air current over the damper. The shield however only produced a fall in oil temperature of approximately 8°C; this was due to the air being thoroughly warmed before it entered the scoop in the shield. Test.1. N.S. Exhaust. Off-side. Average. Maximum. Average. Maximum Oil Temperature. 53°C. 60°C. 31°C. 32°C. Air Temp. close to gland. 38°C. 40°C. 23°C. 23°C. Test 2 (with shield). Oil Temperature. 45°C. 47°C. - - Air Temp. close to gland. 35°C. 35°C. - - Melting Temp. of Gland Wax. 40°C. The oil temperature in the front dampers was also checked, and this was found to maintain a steady 17°C. The air temperature being 10°C. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
