PLEASE REPLY TO: BROOKLANDS TRACK. YOUR REF. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}2KW. OUR REF. 52. GHKT/MVG. 1st January, 1934. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Gryles, Esq., (?) Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Limited, Experimental Dept., Derby. Dear Mr. Gryles, Herewith rough detail of gears and (?) damper. On closer examination after you left, I find there is a spring loaded plate which one might assume is a damper. There is, however, no radial movement noticeable, so until one can actually strip the job it is difficult to form a definite opinion. Unfortunately, we have no actual need to dismantle the shaft, but if you are sufficiently interested I have no doubt Mr. Cobb would give permission for it to be done at your expense. In any case, if at some later date we do have occasion to examine one I will take full particulars and advise you. Yours sincerely, [Signature] P.S. I must apologise for my inability to decipher your name. | ||
