MODIFICATION TO PRODUCTION PARTS.
Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/R.9.6.37.

On investigation we find that the change in method of manufacture suggested by Mr.Bullough was made in August 1936. and effected a saving in machining time of 24 hours 45 minutes per set of Phantom III. Connecting Rods.

Samples were shown to BY/Cgh.{W Clough} who in turn showed samples and drawings for comparison to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} It was agreed that no effect on strength or weight would be made, and that the change could take place without test.

Shop drawings were then issued on E's authority.

To prevent this occurring in future, we are instructing all concerned in the Works that no modification must be requested with out first submitting such to the Experimental department for their approval, and issue of the authorised standardisation sheet.
