re Adjustable Shock Dampers.

I am in receipt of Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 6/MJ.29.3.33. This makes the position clearer to me than it was before.

I am also in receipt of Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 16/KT.29.3.33 and presume that what he refers to as the J.III type damper is the new type shock absorber referred to in your memo. and which can be fitted up with no form of control and which at the same time is suitable to be used with hand control or automatic governor control.

Re P.II, I appreciate the importance of some form of controllability and, from what you say, it certainly looks as if the automatic governor type of control is still some way off.

As regards hand control, I note you are expecting in two or three weeks' time to have 27-EX car running fitted with a scheme which you recommend for standardisation.

You mention that you have had hand control fitted to a 20/25 car for nearly two years, but I believe the method of operation is different from what you are now proposing.

I mention this merely because, if what I say is correct, it means that the experience gained on the 25 is not presumably of much benefit in connection with standardisation.

In the last paragraph of the other memo. quoted it says that you will be in a position to demonstrate the system to Sales almost immediately on 20-EX and if, as I assume, this is the same scheme as is proposed for standardisation subject to 10,000 miles test on 27-EX, then we should certainly like to see and try it as soon as possible.

In regard to the 20/25 I have noted with interest all you say and that you have given up the idea of having a further batch of the present standard dampers largely because it would sacrifice front axle control.
