SHOCK DAMPERS

SQUARE SHAFT FIXING FOR INTERMEDIATE LEVERS

With the square shaft a smaller diameter inner bush is necessary. In order to utilise the existing casings, a thicker section inner bush will be required. The hole for the bush in the new casing has been reduced.

For new material the diameter of the rocking shaft is increased by .050". However, for conversion of existing dampers, we think the present levers and shafts can be modified. This will mean that the production square shaft will be slightly better than the one we are testing.

Therefore the modifications which are necessary for converting the first dampers for 18.G.IV., 40/50 Bumper Front, and 20/25 Bumper rear are :-

(1) New intermediate lever. F.85054.
(2) New bolt F.85055.
(3) New inner bush.
(4) Existing rocking shaft modified 14202 F

If these dampers are satisfactory on both the 40/50 and 25 HP. bumper chassis, we shall be able to convert the remaining dampers to the same specification.
