Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.4/HP.6.4.33. Bensport Series 1 - Radiator and Bonnet. ---------------------------------------- With reference to the bonnet material for the 200 sets of Bensport, we tentatively arranged to fix the proportions of closed to open bodies in the ratio of 90 to 10 as we expected more open bodies on this model than encountered with 20/25 and F.2. chassis. The bonnet for the open car is 8.5 inches longer behind the dash than the one used for closed bodies, and the material for the former can of course be used for the latter at some loss if less open cars were required. Since then we have had some conversation with Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} about this matter and he recommends we order 100% material closed car bonnets for the 200 chassis and treat the open as special as from his enquiries he deduces that practically all the demand is for closed coachwork even on a sporting chassis. We realise the difficulty of predicting what is going to happen with respect to this point, but it is a matter in which Sales are principally interested, and would no doubt like to express their views.
