Y4368 Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.11/MJ. Sept. 7th.1931. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons, Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London.N.W.2. Dear Sirs, Re. Electric Petrol Gauge. We thank you for your letter of the 4th.inst., ref:E.2, and are pleased to note that you will be able to fit a petrol gauge to the tank which we have supplied, without alterations to the baffles. With regard to our present tank being slightly different from the one with which we have supplied you, the reason we mentioned this in our previous letter was because from your recent correspondence we had imagined extensive alterations being necessary to baffles. What we require is a petrol gauge fitted to the tank as supplied to you so that we can give the gauge a thorough test. Should the gauge prove to be highly satisfactory, we can then consider alternative arrangements, if needed, for our present petrol tank. We note that you kindly offer to come to Derby to discuss this matter, but as we know nothing of your gauge and think we have supplied sufficient information, we feel that such a visit would scarcely be necessary from our point of view. If, however, you wish to come sometime before Friday 11th.inst., we shall endeavour to help you as much as possible. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd., | ||
