As you know, we contacted Aspin some time ago and have got to a position where we were proposing to put in hand a single cylinder unit. Obviously, it would not be efficient if we both ran single cylinder units with the Aspin type valve and we suggest that we have a combined talk round the job with the object of avoiding overlapping. At the moment our recommendation is that we run the Aspin valve on a 3 1/2" bore cylinder as a 2-stroke and that the Aviation Division do the 4-stroke work. The question arises as to how soon we can get a preliminary run, as, until we have done some continuous work with the valve running at 4,000 revs or over we cannot be very definite about it's reliability.
