Many thanks for your memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG2523.
We are expecting Mr. Royce back at WW. on Wednesday evening next.
The instructions for the engine have progres-sed since you went to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.
As regards the crankcase patterns we have com-pleted this and are sending the scheme for the battery ignition tower, and all you now require is the oil filler, and breather, and level device. We shall presson with these but we hope you will not delay the crankcase for them, as something can always be improvised.
As regards the cylinder blocks if you wish to get some in hand for an engine test on the bench, and yet make provision for the fan mounting, then the front block could be made with a boxed out facing 4" deep, by 3.5" wide, thick enough to stud into and centrally loca-ted on the engine centre line half way up the front end of the block.
As regards the remainder of the engine we have the induction and exhaust pipes well in hand. We may expect to drive the fan from the magneto and dynamo drive but this should not delay the first engine.
Would you please shew this note to BY?
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
