RE. STANDARD SET OF NIPPLES.

You have no doubt noticed in the later LeC. designs, that an improved form of pipe nipple is being increasingly used in which the fitting brazed or sweated to the pipe is made in the form of a portion of a hollow sphere on the joint face, and the shoulder by which it is held against the joint face is also made spherical. It will be seen that this nipple --- in the allowable angle of movement, is truly universal, and it should not fail to make a good joint without strain on the parts. What we want to do is to seize the opportunity before a large number of these pieces have been drawn of making a table of standard proportions. Accordingly we should be glad if you could have life size drawings of complete nipple joints made in the form of a table for all the sizes of pipe that we require. These drawings can then be submitted for Mr. Royce's approval, and each one modified, if necessary as required.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
