For the attention of Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hives.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited.
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

Range of Tyres for New Season.

Confirming our interview at Derby on 13th. August and subsequent conversations per telephone with Mr. Hives and Mr. Robotham, the writer as desired begs to record the understanding arrived at as follows :-

For the 40 h.p. Model, we are to continue the supply of 32 x 6.75 Dunlop Normal Type Tyres and not "Fort " type as originally proposed. The result of your experiments with 32 x 6.75 "Fort " Type Tyres will determine whether and when the latter may be substituted as standard equipment.

For the 20 h.p. Model we are to continue the supply of 32 x 6.00 Dunlop Normal Type Tyres to a limited extent sufficient to cover equipment requirements for chassis recently manufactured to take this size, also for replacement business.

We are also to continue the supply of 31 x 6.00 "Fort " Type as First Equipment on all chassis now being built. It is understood that the reduction in overall diameter secured by the substitution of 31 x 6.00 for 32 x 6.00 has eliminated the objections to the adoption of "Fort " type Tyres on the 20 h.p. Model, and it is hoped that the experiments being made in connection with Tyre equipment on the 40/50 h.p. Model will eventually allow of the adoption of "Fort " tyre equipment, although we appreciate the fact that this cannot be accomplished for some considerable time.

Will you kindly confirm in course of post and oblige.

Yours faithfully,
