R.R. 493A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. ORIGINAL Expl. No. 9940 REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LGS.11.23. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to Re. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} SECRET. 4-WHEEL BRAKES. On the chassis fitted with 4-wheel brakes we have tested the parallel control for the front axle. The car was run with the Brake Actuating Mechanism arranged in the original manner. We found the action of the brakes smooth and effective - both forward and retard. The results were equivalent to those we obtained with the torque arm which was suggested by Rg.{Mr Rowledge} We are arranging now to remove the top rod of the parallel control and to use the lower rod as a radius rod - the operating mechanism will be arranged to suit.
