25 HP. Steering.

In view of the controversy on 25 HP. steerings we recommend that the following modifications be made.

(1) We have proved that Castrol X.L. oil is better in the steering box than Amber A, and recommend the change to be made in production.

(2) We consider that the poundage is too high on the cross steering tube and recommend that it be reduced to 6 lbs. + or - 1 lb. It has been the practice of the Test Dept. in the past to set this poundage at 10 lbs. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has agreed to the reduced poundage, and all present production 25 HP. cars are now being set to the new figure.

These two modifications make the steering lighter to handle, without any adverse effect at speed.
