Oy RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.4/MH.{M. Huckerby} 11th. March 1938. M.Olley, Esq., Vauxhall Motors Ltd., Luton, BEDS. Dear Mr. Olley, A lot of our people have suddenly got a scare against levers being pressed on to knurled shafts and are wanting to use squares everywhere. It is really most annoying. From the drawings 1038071 and 1016414 which you let me have there is nothing about the material, but I presume both parts are mild steel and the shaft cyanide hardened. There are also several queries with regard to the type of knurls used. Could we buy from you 2 levers and shafts assembled so that we can twist the levers off and also one of the knurles which you use. I presume that it is an advantage to have a greater width of lever boss and longer knurling. Yours sincerely, | ||
