Attached herewith is Mr/Col's. report on 25 HP. car 19-G4 after 8,000 miles. As regards his criticisms, the following are our comments :-

Re. the knock caused by the fabric becoming dry on the supporting bracket of the gearbox. We are proposing to try cotton fabric here instead of Ferodo.

The complaint that the wheelcase cannot be removed without first removing the front cross member, is a matter for the design.

Exhaust valve stretching. We know no way of avoiding the .003 clearance being taken up on the exhaust valve.

Clutch. We are arranging to increase the size of the oil drains, and are looking into the question of fitting same a felt washer. The rattle from the change speed lever is not an unknown complaint and can be overcome by attention to clearances.

Exhaust Fittings. We are making tests with a modified exhaust system which has a sliding joint in the down-pipe, which should avoid any strain coming on the manifold. We are also looking into the question of the stay which Col. complains of, and the lagging on the silencer, this is the same as we have used on all the 25 HP. cars which have been made.

Fan. This is the same design which has been fitted to all 25 HP. cars, so the rivets coming loose must have been caused by difference in manufacture.

Shock dampers. The fact that the shock damper control with the car in France was made satisfactory by deleting the noise in the valves indicates that this leakage could be used effectively, as an adjustment. As regards the failure of the rear G.pper connecting link, a modification has been made to this part to overcome this trouble.
