CAMSHAFT (Cont'd).

Cams have slight taper to ensure rotation of tappets.
Supported in 4 bronze bushings (probably pressed in and burnished in position). Camshaft End thrust taken by hardened plunger and spring on hardened thrust plate which is spot welded to the wheelcase cover.

Oil Pump and distributor driven by skew gears in centre of camshaft.

Camshaft drive by 1" "Morse" silent chain.

CAMSHAFT SPROCKET.

Width of sprocket 1.1/32. Approx. pitch of Teeth .325.
No. of teeth 36.

CAMS.

Cam base circle 1.312 dia.

Cams .500 wide. Cam lift .300.

VALVES.

See Ex.S.401.

Spring Dampers fitted (A similar scheme has been done for Wraith).

Tappets. Mushroom with spherical face.

Valve Guides, are pressed in to a gauge and have no keys or dowels. See Ex.S.369.
