Valve Springs.
Length in position 2.9/32 at 94 lbs.
Outside diameter 1.156
Free Length 2.5/8
Diameter of Wire .162
9 Coils altogether.
9 working coils.

FAN AND WATER PUMP.
See Ex.S.402.
Harrison radiator circular core 'V' Type.
Water Pump and Fan are one unit, fixed on front of block.
Pump discharges into a tube which lies along the entire length of block, between valves and cylinder barrel, holes and slots in the tube distribute water around the valves.
Thermostat opens at 145°F.{Mr Friese}
Diameter of Fan blades 17¾ ins.
Fan .95 times crankshaft speed and bolt driven.
Fan Four bladed and balanced to 1/4 oz. inches, also runs true within 1/8", more than this will cause an apparent rough engine and shorten life of water pump.
Pump shaft is mounted in a permanently lubricated, double row ball bearing.

LUBRICATION.
Pressure Oil to Main Bearings.
Pressure Oil to Camshaft.
Pressure Oil to Sprocket wheels (by Index).
Pressure Oil to Gudgeon Pins. (by Index).
Note, that all the above is obtained by drilled passages.

Lubrication of Sprocket Wheels.
Four holes equally spaced are drilled around thrust flange of camshaft during rotation - these holes coincide in turn with a hole drilled in crankcase. This latter hole communicates with the pressure oil system, so that four times per rev. oil is squirted on to timing wheels.
