R.R. 235A (100 T) (S.H. 159 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to DJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL PRE-IGNITIONS Ho R2/M19.8.26. 20 AUG 1926 X4410 X4005 X4587 These we understand are caused by hot valves. Do detonations, if allowed to exist for some time, result in pre-ignitions?- (Mr. Ricardo says yes.) We imagine that valve erosion is caused by the motion of the valve while in a special condition caused by heat, or water, or steam. If we can re-produce it at will, we can then find if it varies with different materials of valve, or seating. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
