The Autocar, February 10th, 1939 Proving the World's Finest Cars 219 THE ROAD-WHEEL DYNAMOMETER. Advantages of this type of dynamometer, used in the Rolls-Royce and Bentley plant, are that a complete car can be rigged up on it in a few minutes, and a power curve taken of the actual horse-power delivered at the tyres. Furthermore, the brake is of such a capacity that it will take full bottom-gear torque on even the largest of cars. Endurance runs on the gear box, transmission and rear axle are in progress almost continuously, as such testing finds out in a few days any weak spots. The conclusion of the description of the work of the experimental division of the Derby factory, which commenced in last week's issue of " The Autocar," will be found on page 216. | ||
